As we have done every July for many years, it’s that time again to raise money for Pelotonia.
If you are not familiar with Pelotonia, it’s a bike tour that is focused on ending cancer. It involves bike riders, fundraisers, donors, and volunteers throughout the state of Ohio.
All the money (that’s 100% of it!) that is raised from this event goes directly to cancer research at the Ohio State University (OSU) Comprehensive Cancer Center, James Cancer Hospital, and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James).
All the previous events have totaled up to millions of dollars that have gone toward ending cancer.
Not only does this help cancer patients at OSU, but it also helps those all around the world as the research studies and information is shared across the world with other physicians and researchers.
This year’s event takes place from August 4th to August 6th, but we are starting our fundraising efforts now.
We are supporting other riders and serving as our own virtual riders with whatever funds we can raise from our customers at all of our Columbus flower shop locations.
Of course, we also want to encourage you to ride in the event. There are various routes to choose from that vary from as little as 25 miles to nearly 200 miles long.
Each rider has an assigned fundraising event to meet of $1,250 to $2,500 that corresponds with their route length.
You can also volunteer by registering at http://www.mypelotonia.org/volunteer.jsp. There is no minimum fundraising commitment for volunteers.
We will keep raising money until cancer ends because we can’t let it beat us or those we love!
