Pelotonia is coming August 3rd through August 5th, and we are raising money again this year to help this worthy community cause. Doing things for the local Columbus community is a hallmark of our family-owned flower shops. The organization has raised over $164 million dollars over the course of these events all of which has gone to cancer research. They are a grassroots organization through an annual three-day experience of cycling, entertainment, and volunteerism. This year will be the tenth year of making such an incredible impact while also bringing local communities together for an important purpose. Each year, there are thousands of riders, virtual riders, volunteers, researchers, donors, and partners who have accelerated the necessary funding for innovative cancer research that is designed to save lives. This year, the cycling route options have been expanded from six to ten. Pelotonia provides all participants with assistance to meet funding for their route bye extending fundraising until 11:59pm on Friday, October 5, 2018. In 2017, the fundraising hit a new record of $26.2 million. There were donors from all 50 states and 60 countries who contributed funds. Each year, the money goes to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. The money goes toward Idea Grants, Fellowships, Tools, Research, and Statewide Initiatives. Since it started, Pelotonia has funded 108 idea grants and 440 fellowships as well as supported 87 senior scientists and three statewide initiatives. Throughout the month of July, we will be raising donations and accepting them at all of our Columbus flower shop locations. Help us help others through this worthy cause.
