Thanksgiving Events in Columbus

Besides your Turkey Day meal and football, there’s other events in Columbus that are a great way to celebrate with your community and enjoy the holiday spirit together. Check out these great events for Thanksgiving in the Columbus area that are ideal for burning those calories ahead of that delicious feast you most likely are going to tuck into plus you know you are doing good by raising money and awareness for some special organizations: Columbus Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot This race has been a Thanksgiving Day family tradition for 28 years. This year, it’s scheduled for Thursday, November 24th and is hosted by the Shops on Lane Avenue. Last year, over 7,600 people participated in this event that has been selected by Runners World Magazine as the best Hometown Favorite Race. There are two distances to choose from, including a five-mile race and a two-mile “Walk ‘N Talk” race at Waterman Farm at OSU. As part of entering these races, each participant receives a long sleeve shirt, medal, chip timing and goody bag. Every participant will also receive a Whole Foods pumpkin pie! Additionally, kids can get in on all the fun with the Kids Tot Trot 100-yard dash, which is free to children of registered parents and guardians. Kids get a treat, t-shirt, and ribbon for participating. The proceeds from the event go to Easterseals and their Early Intervention Program, which provides support to help children with special challenges, disabilities, or needs so they can reach their full potential. Thanksgiving Fun in Columbus

It’s that special time of year to enjoy family and friends. Sure, it involves a lot of planning and running around too, but it is all worth it when Thanksgiving comes together and you sit down to enjoy a great meal surrounded by beautiful Thanksgiving flowers. Then, there is the fun of picking up great deals on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday. We’ll be open and looking forward to see you come in and shop our new holiday collection, special gifts, and promotional pricing. Before those holiday shopping events hit though, Columbus turns on the fun of special events that are a great way to carve out more time with family, burn some calories, and do some good for the community. First, there is the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, which has been a family tradition in the Columbus area for more than 25 years. The Columbus Turkey Trot is on Thanksgiving Day and is hosted by the Whole Foods Market Upper Arlington at the Shops on Lane Avenue. The proceeds will benefit the Make the First Five Count Program and Easter Seals. Each year, it just gets bigger as it was voted as the “Hometown Favorite Race” by Runners World Magazine. There is a five mile and 2.5-mile race where you can run or walk plus a Tot Trot for the younger set. The event also includes music, food, recipes, activities for the kids, demonstrations and much more. For those in Grove City, you can enjoy the city’s 4th Annual Thanksgiving Morning 5K Run. Called the Thanksgiving Wattle, this event starts at 9am. The event is intended to promote health while also providing proceeds for local charities that help support the community.
